Robert Charles Allen, 80, a resident of Pasadena, MD died on January 2, 2011 at his home due to a lengthy illness.

He was born July 12, 1930 in Chicago, IL, where he was raised until his junior year in high school. The family moved to Pasadena, CA then and he graduated from Polytechnic High School and continued on two years in LA City College.

He enlisted in the Army Dec. 22, 1950 until Dec. 3, 1953. He fought in the Korean War, and was in the major battles of Heart Break Ridge, Bloody Ridge and the Punch.

Robert worked as a photo engraver for Alco Gravure Color Printing Co in Los Angeles, CA and was transferred to Maryland in 1970. He was a member of the Local Printing #31. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and was a member of Granite Baptist Church. He was an avid golfer....and had caddied as a kid when he was in Chicago, for such greats as Ben Hogan, Patti Berg and etc. He was preceded in death by his parents, Opal and Don Allen.

Robert is survived by his wife of 46 years, Alberta J. Allen and five children: Colleen Masters of Dana Point, CA, Rona Baab of Glen Burnie, MD, Steve Allen of Redding, CA, Bobbie Allen Phillips of Millersville and Ronald S. Allen of Pasadena MD. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Family and friends may attend a visitation on Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-8 at Barranco & Sons Funeral Home in Severna Park. Funeral will be at Granite Baptist Church in Glen Burnie, MD on Friday January 7 at 11 AM. Interment will be at MD Veterans Crownsville, MD.
