Heaven welcomed a beautiful angel on Saturday, May 23, 2015. Rita June Steele passed quietly in her home with her family. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

Rita was born in Oklahoma City, OK. Early in life she married William Neal Eckenbarger. Moving to Severna Park, Maryland they raised four children. Later marrying Richard Steele, she moved to Pasadena, Maryland. She had a strong love for her family and always welcomed any who were willing to receive a hug and kiss from her as part of that family.

Rita enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were very important to her. She also enjoyed spending time with friends at the Pasadena Senior Center. With a very strong faith, she belonged to CrossPointe Church (formerly New Covenant Church). She was very active in her church and considered them her family as well.

With the biggest of hearts she would help anyone in need. Rita will be remembered for her bright welcoming smile which was always followed by a big hug and kiss hello. She was loved by so many and will be greatly missed.

Rita is survived by her four children; Colleen Irvine (Charles), Susan Yost (David), William Neal Eckenbarger Jr. (Kristen), and Denise Hinkleman; her two step-children; Fran Bistrian and Gregory Steele (Bridget); and her eighteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
