Richard L. Starcher, 77, of Severna Park, died of natural causes on August 19, 2011, at his home.

He was born on January 24, 1934 in Carolina, West Virginia. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He graduated from Fairmont University where he was a member of TBI fraternity. He received his Masters Degree from West Virginia University. He attended many TBI fraternity events and was an avid West Virginia University Fan.

He was a teacher in Howard County Public Schools and retired after a 33 year career. Mr. Starcher had lived in Catonsville prior to moving to Severna Park. He loved being with his family and enjoyed dancing and playing golf.

He is survived by a daughter, Tracy Lynn Miller and her husband David of Frederick and son, Scott Starcher and his wife Maria of Perry Hall, his 3 grandchildren, Joshua David, Mary Shannon and Jacob Richard. Mr. Starcher was also survived by his companion, Margaret Gooding of Odenton. He was the son of the late Chester Arthur Starcher and Hilah Cain Starcher.

Friends may visit at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, on Tuesday, August 23th, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Services will be held on Wednesday at 11am at Pasadena United Methodist Church. Interment will be at Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.
