Richard Sidney Anderson, 89 years old, died Monday, May 12, 2014 at Anne Arundel Medical Center. He was born at home on March 15, 1925 to Anton Oscar Anderson and Lydia Marie Johansson. Richard served in the Army during World War II in the 632nd Engineer LE Co from May 27, 1943 to January 1, 1946. He went through 5 major battles during World War II, including Normandy landing, Battle of the Bulge, and the invasion of the Philippines.

He married Anna Claire Macfarlane on August 8, 1946. He was a man of many talents. He had worked as an Auto Mechanic Helper, Photographer, and painter. He began at Adcrafters as a veteran trainee learning all the aspects of the printing trade and rose to being the vice president of the company.

Richard and Claire raised three children in a warm family environment, Richard Benson Anderson, Gary Bruce Anderson and Diane Marie Bucheimer. They moved their family to Cape St. Claire in 1967.

He was very involved in service to his Lord, Jesus Christ. He was a volunteer with the 700 Club in the Baltimore area, Mayor's prayer breakfast, Full Gospel Businessman's Fellowship International, served as trustee, deacon and elder.

Forced to drop out of high school due to the illness of his mother, he was very proud to have completed and received his high school diploma after retirement.

He was widowed for many years and asked the Lord for a companion and was blessed with his second wife, Ruby Ashe Anderson. They had enjoyed seven years of marriage when he went home to the Lord.

He is survived by his wife, his children, nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and his sister, Betty Young.

Family and friends may visit on Monday, May 19, 2014 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy, in Severna Park. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 20 at Trinity Bible Church, 99 Truck House Road, Severna Park, 21146. Family will be available for visitation at 9:00 am with the Funeral Service at 10:00 am. Interment will follow in MD Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Trinity Bible Church.
