Richard (Dick) H. Sheats, 70, of Odenton, formerly of Severna Park for 42 years, died November 3, 2011. Born November 16, 1940 to the late Thomas & Jane Sheats. Beloved husband of Shirley Sheats (Haines) for 49 years; loving father & father-in-law of Richard & Jennifer Sheats, Sandra & Jason Thomas, and Kenneth Sheats & Lori Allen; loving grandfather of 9; loving brother and brother-in-law of Thomas H. & Laura Sheats, loving brother-in-law of Geraldine & Harry Wilhelm, and loving son-in-law of Marguerite Haines & the late Harry Haines.


Dick served in the Navy Reserves for 6 years, 2 of which were active duty aboard the USS Boxer, an aircraft carrier, out of Norfolk, Virginia and was honorably discharged in 1964. After working in the printing industry for 39 years, he retired in 1999.


After battling cancer for 12
years,he died peacefully at Tate Chesapeake Hospice House. His body was donated to the Anatomy Gifts Registry for research to help others in their fight. Donations can be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, any cancer organization or charity of one's choice.
