Richard Paul McLaughlin II, 25, suddenly died in Charleston, SC on November 5, 2009 due to heart failure.
He was born June 01, 1984 in Baltimore, MD and raised in the Severna Park and Annapolis areas. He attended Severna Park Middle School, Fishburne Military Academy in Waynesboro, Virginia, graduated from Broadneck High School in Annapolis, MD, and continued his academics at The Citadel in Charleston, SC.
He was a member of the College ROTC, member of the Rifle Team, secretary of the Key Club, was an Event Coordinator, and was involved in many facets of Concert Promotions. He was an all around athlete, mainly (MVP) ice hockey & lacrosse. He received the Student of the Month Award for Interest of Law.
He is survived by his father, Richard P. McLaughlin of Annapolis, MD; his mother, Anne E. Majer of Severna Park, MD; one sister, Erin S. McLaughlin of Baltimore, MD; one brother, Ryan P. Shields of Stevensville, MD; cousin, Lauren K. Benko of Millersville, MD; and his grandparents, F.C. & Mary McLaughlin, Capt. Richard & Margo Thiele, and Capt. James & Rosemary Majer.
A Memorial Visitation and Service will be held on Sunday, November 15, 2009 from 12-4 pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Gov. Ritchie Hwy in Severna Park.
