Richard T. Kowalski, 85, husband of Hilda M. Kowalski of Severna Park, passed away quietly on November 26, 2014. He is survived by Hilda, his wife of 63 years, his son Michael A. Kowalski, daughter Susan A. Kowalski, granddaughter Kristin M. Kowalski, grandson Christopher M. Kowalski and two great grandchildren.

Richard was a graduate of New York University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and a master's degree in Nuclear Engineering from M.I.T. He was a Naval Officer during the Korean Conflict. Upon his return to civilian life, he was employed by the Portsmouth (N.H.) Naval Shipyard where he later became the Design Division Supervisor. In 1967 he accepted a position in Washington, D.C. with the U.S. Department of the Navy in their Submarine Division. He retired as the Division Director of Submarines in 1979. He started a consulting firm where he traveled worldwide to submarine bases to offer his knowledge and expertise on nuclear submarines. He retired his business in 1986. "Dick" was an avid sailor, sailing the east coast from Bermuda to Canada. He enjoyed talking "boats" with his friends at the Round Bay pier. His time on the water was some of his happiest.
