Dr. Richard T. Koritzer Sr. D.D.S., 85, died April 26, 2012 surrounded by family.

He was born November 27, 1926 in Baltimore, MD the son of the late Anna Langenauer and Edward Joseph Koritzer Sr.. Brother to the late Edward Joseph Koritzer Jr. and Audrey Koritzer Walsh. He was raised in Baltimore and served his country as a U.S. Navy World War II Veteran.

Dr. Koritzer was a Father, a teacher, a researcher and was known for his bellowing laugh and his sharp wit. He was dedicated to his patients in his local Glen Burnie Dental practice. Dr. Koritzer was a lover of people, art and enjoyed his family always looking for an opportunity to laugh. He was a person always looking for knowledge, earning his last advanced degree in Theology at the age of 84.

Dr. Koritzer achieved multiple advanced degrees and was an alumnus at University of Maryland, Loyola University, Johns Hopkins University, American University & St. Mary's Seminary & University. He was a respected Researcher performing research at University of Maryland Dental School & the National Institute of Health. He was also a past research scientist of Physical Anthropology at the Smithsonian Institute & was appointed by the late Governor William Donald Schaefer to a term on the National Institute of Cancer Research Board. In addition, Dr.Koritzer was a Professor, teaching dental students at University of Maryland and Georgetown University Dental schools.

Dr. Koritzer is predeceased by his wife of 63 years, the love of his life, Anna Virginia Koritzer. He is survived by his four children - Daughters Jacauelin K. Keleman, Mary Ellen Mullens, Sons - Richard T. Koritzer Jr., James A. Koritzer, four Grandchildren - Robert Karn, Rebecca Karn, Joseph Keleman, Michael Karn and five Great Grandchildren - Chelsea Blackburn, Brittni Blackburn, Anthony Karn, Tyler Karn and Anna Keleman.

Friends may visit at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 1st, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Evangelist Church in Severna Park on Wednesday at 1130am. Interment will be held at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.
