FINLAY, Richard Stanley, 87, of Annapolis, Maryland passed into Eternal Rest with his family by his side on Tuesday August 15, 2017. He was the son of the late Frank Stanley and Edith E. Cantell Finlay of Quincy, Massachusetts and the husband of his beloved wife Carol Jean Finlay recently celebrating their 63 rd year of marriage. He is survived by his brother Frank A Finlay of Milford, Pennsylvania and Carol Finlay Novick of Quincy, Massachusetts; daughter Kathleen Finlay Jamison and her husband David Jamison of Estero, Florida, daughter Susan Finlay Cline and her husband Philip Cline of Severna Park, grandsons Marc Hutchison, Jesse Hutchison, Major John Leitch, USA, Michael Leitch, the light of his life great-granddaughter Gracie Ann Hutchison, along with many nieces and nephews. Richard Finlay was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War Era before entering government service. He was a graduate of Johns Hopkins University with a Master's Degree in Engineering and a 1973 graduate of the U S Army War College. He was awarded the Distinguished Civilian Service Medal. He was a champion of developmentally challenged adults throughout his adult life volunteering with charitable organizations locally. He was a faithful Catholic attending Mass at St John's Parish in Severna Park and previously Holy Trinity Parish in Glen Burnie. Viewing will be held on Sunday, August 20, from 5-8 pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St John's the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 689 Ritchie Hwy, in Severna Park at 10 am on Monday, August 21. Interment will be at Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville following. Flowers may be sent to Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home or a Memorial Donation can be made in Richard's name to the John's Hopkins Transplant Foundation or Opportunity Builders, Inc.
