Richard Drexel
Richard A. Drexel, 77, a 34-year resident of Arnold, died at Anne Arundel Medical Center from complications of pneumonia on July 10.
Born in Baltimore on March 4, 1930, Mr. Drexel retired after 40 years in the Baltimore City Fire Department, where he was a battalion chief. He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War.
His interests included reading and the Orioles and Ravens. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Severna Park and Retired Officers' Union of Baltimore City.
Surviving are his wife, Theresa Margaret Schliecher Drexel of Arnold, whom he married in 1950; three sons, Richard Drexel of Mount Airy, Mark Drexel of Brooklyn Park and Keith Drexel of Pasadena; one brother, John C. Drexel of Houston; two sisters, Lorraine D. Daly of Bel Air and Margaret Hechler of Sandston, Va.; and four grandchildren. He was the father of the late Kurt Drexel.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Friday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 689 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park.
