Richard Lee Byrd, 66, of Edgemere, died suddenly in an accident on the Chesapeake Bay on Aug. 19.

Richard graduated from Edmonson High School in 1960 and served in the Air Force from 1962-1966.

Known by friends and family as "Bud," he was very active in the American Legion and Moose Lodge, and enjoyed the waterways.

He is survived by his daughters, Cheryl Odell-Duffy of Severna Park, Peggy Rogers of Sykesville and Julie Dixon of Fredericksburg, Va.; two sisters, Barbara Sabol of N.Y., and Delores Petro of Pasadena; and seven grandchildren, ranging in age from 8 to 21.

A viewing will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 23 at Barranco and Sons P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home. Interment will be held at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25 in Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.
