Richard J. Bennett, a resident of Annapolis, MD, passed away on October 24, 2018.

Richard was born on December 29, 1924, in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania. He was raised in Cumberland, MD, where he attended Ft. Hill High school. He attended University of Wisconsin, Madison for a year before entering the Navy.

Richard served for the US Navy in World War II, where he participated in the Invasion of Normandy and in the Invasion of the South of France. After the war, Richard worked in sales for Fairchild Aviation, then as a Regional Sales Manager for Allstate Insurance, and finally as a Real Estate Agent.

Richard was a member of Prospect Bay Country Club in Grasonville, MD, Kelly Greens Country Club, and Lexington Country Club in Ft. Meyers, FL. He loved golf, gardening, boating, crabbing, the beach and was a party organizer.

Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Norma Louise Bennett; his loving children, Nickola Schwab (R. Kent), of Gibson Island, MD, Shawn R. Bennett, of Cambridge, MD, Melanie Bennett-Hodge (Terry) of Orchard Beach, MD and Cinda L. Bennett of Pasadena, MD; his stepson, Summie Clyde Moore; his first wife Edna Louise Kimmell; his grandchildren, Alexander K. Schwab, Samuel Lee Bennett, Jonathan M. Friedl and Brooke E. Fredl; and his great grandchildren, Mia Snow Friedl and Sophie P. Schwab.

Family and friends may visit on Monday, October 29, 2018 from 2-4pm & 6-8pm at the Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at 11am in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 90 Ritchie Hwy, Pasadena, MD 21122.
