Raymond K. Schumacher, 86, a long time resident of Severna Park, died on January 8, 2012. He was born in 1925 in Payne, Ohio and grew up in Bluffton.
A World War II Veteran, Ray served in Europe in the US Army, Company G, 242nd Regiment, 42nd Rainbow Infantry Division. His unit suffered 80% killed, wounded, or captured during Hitler's final offensive operation in Alsace-Lorraine. They finally gained the upper hand and were lead elements in offensive operations in Germany and the liberation of the Nazi death Camp in Dachau.
Ray graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in Electrical Engineering and spent a long and fulfilling career with Westinghouse in Field Engineering and Services.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jane Schumacher; his three children Deborah Allen and her husband Robert, Jon Schumacher and his wife Carmen, and Claire Allard and her husband Martin; his brother Charles Schumacher; his sister-in-law Gerrianne Riddle and her husband Jack; and his granddaughter Christina Schumacher.
Friends may view on Sunday January 15, 2012 from 2-4 & 6-8pm. Services will be held on Tuesday January 17, 2012 at 12noon in the Barranco Funeral Home. Interment in Maryland Veterans Cemetery.
