Raymond Emmett McCurtin, 86, of Severna Park, Anne Arundel County, passed away on June 11, 2021 of natural causes.

He was born on July 9, 1934 in Baltimore MD, the son of Julia and Francis R. McCurtin. He served with the 82 nd Airborne Division, 1954 through 1956. He retired from the National Security Agency in 1991 after serving in the Operations Directorate for 37 years in a variety of positions. He was also a member of the Phoenix Society.

Mr. McCurtin enjoyed choral singing as a member of the Annapolis Chorale, the Chesapeake Chorale, and the Cape Fear Chorale (NC). He also enjoyed playing senior softball with the Anne Arundel County (MD) Senior Softball Association where he participated in three state tournaments. In addition, he was a member of the Wilmington (NC) Senior Softball Association and played on a team that won the North Carolina State Championship for four successive years.

Surviving Raymond are his daughter, Leslie A. McCurtin-Mahannah and her husband, James Mahannah, of Boca Raton, FL; his son Gregory P. McCurtin of Pikesville, MD; and his daughter Kathleen M. Wilson of Pasadena, MD. He is also survived by grandchildren Nicholas McCurtin of Boston, MA, Bethany Wilson of Annapolis, MD, and Bradley Wilson of Severn, MD. In addition, he is survived by his sister Germaine (Gerry) Howser of Pasadena, MD; sister Rita M. Horney and her husband John of Easton, MD, and sister Lucille Dodge of Annapolis, MD.

A memorial gathering will be held on Monday, June 21, 2021 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home & Cremation Care, P.A. 495 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park, MD 21146. The memorial service will be at 12:00pm at the funeral home, following the gathering.
