Raymond Paul Aubin

Of Annapolis, MD, formerly of University Park, MD, passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2016. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ann. Mr. Aubin was born in Manchester, NH, on April 30, 1933 to the late Felix and Delphine (Bergeron) Aubin. Ray was a Private First Class in the Army, where he originally was stationed to be a field artillery officer but, when it was discovered he had a drawing gift, he spent his Army career in Ft. Dix drawing recruitment posters. After the service, he attended The Catholic University of America where he graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture. While at Catholic, he met Ann and together they settled in Adelphi where they raised their four children. They attended St. Mark's Catholic Church for over 40 years. Ray was a dedicated father, chauffeuring to practices and games for basketball, soccer, football, cheerleading, and even Boy Scouts. Ray joined the Knights of Columbus Council 2809, and enjoyed Sunday afternoon softball games followed by time with great friends and a Schaeffer. He also enjoyed woodworking and tinkering around the house. His gift for woodworking, combined with a determination for perfection, left no corner or closet unfinished. If there was a unique shelf unit, or an overpriced cutting board, all his family had to do was show him a picture, and he welcomed the challenge to create it. He was always there for his kids' home projects and eagerly jumped in whenever asked. He was not known as one to sit still. Having projects lined up for Ray when he came to visit was always a shared joy for all involved—and left all with wonderful memories. Ray and Ann retired to Annapolis in 2005 and joined St. Andrew by the Bay. As a member of St. Andrew by the Bay, Ray was a committee member for Habitat for Humanity and enjoyed volunteering for whatever he was asked to do. Ray loved to golf, and could be seen every morning walking at the mall. He is survived by one brother, Gerald; four children: Michael (Suzanne), Paul (Jessa), Joanne (Mike), and Lisa (Peter); 12 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Daniel; two brothers, Roger and Albert; and his sister, Fern. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 4, from 2 – 6 pm at Barranco and Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park, MD. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, December 5, at 10 am, at St. Andrew by the Bay, 701 College Parkway, Annapolis, MD. Reception immediately following at church. In lieu of flowers, donations in Raymond's honor can be made to Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake (habitatchesapeake.org). Interment private.
