Ray Aiken Robertson Sr., aged 92, a beloved Husband, Father, Uncle and Grandfather, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 26, 2024, surrounded by his family. Born on January 23, 1932, in Richmond, Virginia to the late Ingram and Alice Robertson, he lived a life rich in love, kindness, and dedication to his family and community.

Ray was the cherished husband of 62 years to his wife, Leah Robertson nee Brown; father to Pamela Robertson Klingensmith, spouse Guy; Ray Aiken Robertson Jr. "Chip", spouse Rebecca; and Scott Ingram Robertson. He was a proud grandfather to Garrett and Payton Klingensmith, and Benjamin and Olivia Robertson. Ray was pre-deceased by his brother Ingram Jr. and sister-in-law Jean and his sister Helen Creekmore and her husband Edmund.

Ray was a 1949 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School in Richmond Virginia and a 1953 graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He served in the United States Army for two years from 1953 to 1955, stationed in Okinawa, Japan. In 1992, he retired with 38 years of service at C&P Telephone/Bell Atlantic, serving in numerous leadership positions including Director of Customer Service, Director of Data Systems, and Manager of Human Resources Management & Training. Ray received tremendous personal satisfaction when he was selected for an Executive Loan position going from Bell Atlantic to The US President's Committee for the Employment of People with Disabilities, where he was instrumental in helping place people with disabilities into meaningful employment.

Ray enjoyed serving the communities he so loved. Some of his volunteer services were; President of the Baltimore Chapter of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association; member of the Advisory Committee of the R.B. Pamplin Business School at Virginia Tech; President of the Optimist Club of Severna Park; member of the Greater Severna Park Council; and member of the Board of Trustees of the Severna Park United Methodist Church. After his retirement, he became heavily involved with the Service Corp of Retired Executives, SCORE, where, for 21 years, he mentored many small business owners in their quest for success through the development of their strategic plans.

Ray loved competitive sports, rooting on his beloved Hokies of Virginia Tech, the Baltimore Orioles and the Baltimore Ravens. He relished time attending his children's and grandchildren's sporting events, including Severna Park Green Hornets Soccer and Softball, Severna Park High School athletics, Severn School Girls Soccer and South River High School Wrestling and Lacrosse.

His presence was a source of strength and joy for all who knew him. He will be missed, but his legacy will live on in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege to know him.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday November 30, 2024 at 11:00am in the Severna Park United Methodist Church 732 Benfield Rd Severna Park, MD 21146. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Severna Park United Methodist Church.
