Rayborn "Ray" G. Mitchell, a longtime resident of Arnold, MD, passed away peacefully at his home on October 13, 2023. He was born in 1937 in North Carolina and was the son of the late Rex Van Mitchell and Marie (Cadle) Mitchell. He was the loving husband to Kay (Kepple) Mitchell for 27 years.

Ray is proceeded in death by his wife of 35 years, Elizabeth (Hayes) Mitchell.

He was the loving Father to Dee (Mitchell) Bush (Bill) of York PA, Rayborne G. Mitchell II (Kim) of Arnold, MD and Michael J. Mitchell of Mechanicsburg, PA. And Grandfather to Alec, Tristin, Michael Jr, Sarah, and Caitlin.

Ray was a photographer his whole life, he even took the photos for his senior class yearbook in high school. He was a successful businessman. He opened a school photography studio in Salisbury, MD in 1961. He moved to Arnold, MD in 1975 with his family and ran his business based in Anne Arundel County for over 40 years. After selling his business, he started another company that specialized in photographing high school, college, and military class reunions.

Ray's hobbies include gardening, reading, woodworking, tinkering, and visiting hardware stores to just look around. Ray also created props for use in school photos. After his retirement Ray took up woodworking to keep himself busy. He gifted many friends with his creations.

Family and friends may visit on Saturday, November 11, 2023 from 1:00pm -2:00 pm at Woods Presbyterian Church, 611 Baltimore-Annapolis Boulevard, Severna Park, MD 21146. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 2:00 pm in Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church, 611 Baltimore-Annapolis Boulevard, Severna Park, MD 21146.
