Randolph A. Miller, retired NSA Senior Executive, died 19 April 2018 at Johns Hopkins Hospital with his family at his side.  He was 73.

Randy was predeceased by his parents Eunice S. Miller and John R. Miller and his previous wife Mildred McDermott Miller.  He is survived by his beloved family:  wife Suzette Morrow Miller of Millersville; son Matthew Brian Miller (son of Mildred), daughter-in-law Angela, adored grandchildren Isaac, Abigail, and Elijah, of Millersville; and brother William Miller and sister-in-law Joan, of Inverness, Florida.

Born 28 September 1944, in Oak Park, Illinois, Randy spent his early years in the Chicago area. His family relocated to Miami, Florida for a few years and then returned to Illinois, where he graduated from Arlington Heights High School in 1962.  Randy participated in ROTC at Bradley University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering in 1966.  Upon graduation, he joined the Air Force and was assigned to the National Security Agency, Fort Meade, Maryland.

Randy gave nearly four decades of service to his country in the Intelligence Community.  He spent most of his career in R8 and successor organizations, managing the development and acquisition of large systems, which contributed to intelligence gathering across the world.

Devoted to the NSA mission, Randy was known for matching his employees' skills with tasks and providing opportunities for those who worked for him.  He has been called a great leader and mentor, and above all, a good man.  In recognition of his career achievements, Randy was appointed to the Senior Executive Service and subsequently honored with the Secretary of Defense Meritorious Civilian Service Award in 1997.

Randy retired from the Agency in 2001 but continued to provide support to the Intelligence Community for several years, working as a consultant for Leading Edge Design and Systems.

After retirement, Randy and Suzette divided their time between their homes in Millersville and St. Pete Beach, Florida, both near the water where Randy delighted in boating, fishing and watching the seabirds and other wildlife.  The engineer-artist in Randy designed and carved replicas of some of the graceful, long-legged seabirds that he observed, creating unique works of art mounted on bases of driftwood he had collected from the seashore.

Throughout his retirement Randy enjoyed his group of special friends and was known among them to appreciate good company, good food, good wine, and a good Manhattan, served up with dirty ice on the side.

Randy's greatest pleasure, though, was being with his family, especially his three grandchildren.  Spending quiet and rowdy times with the three of them - Isaac, Abby, and Eli - building things, creating thought-provoking challenges, watching Mickey Mouse, Star Wars and Christmas movies, laughing at their shrieks and splashes in the swimming pool, taking family vacations to the beach, sharing the excitement of holidays and birthdays and the many firsts of growing up.  Papa to them, he always offered wisdom and encouragement, knew what they wanted and was popular for his holiday treats. He was a proud grandfather who gave them his unconditional love, and for him, they were the greatest gift of all.
