Mrs. Randi Graves, born 10 July 1936 (80 years) in Kristiansand, Norway, peacefully passed away on 14 August 2016 in her home in Millersville, MD after a long battle with Alzheimer's.

She is survived by her husband, Will Graves of Millersville, sisters Else Johnssen and Ruth Nordahl of Kristiansand, daughter Tina Norwood of Paeonian Springs, Va., son Erick Graves of Millersville, and three grandchildren, Kaden Norwood, age 22, Morgan 18 and Camryn 16.

Mrs. Graves was born to Arne Tobias Johnsen and Borghild Johnsen of Kristiansand. She received a Certificate in Accounting and worked as an accountant for a Norwegian Shipping Company. She loved to travel and decided to visit the US, and possibly to work in the US for a short period. In 1959 she moved to Washington, DC and started to work for the son of Senator Salthensdahl.

In December 1959 she met Will Graves in Washington, DC at a Mercedes Benz Christmas Ball, and in June 1960 they became engaged. They married in a German Civil Service in June 1960 while Will was assigned to Oberammergau, Germany, with the National Security Agency. In April 1961 they held a church wedding in Kristiansand.

Will is deeply saddened by the loss of his beloved wife. They traveled a long, happy and wonderful road together, and have wonderful memories. They enjoyed their overseas assignments in Germany, England, and Russia. They also traveled extensively including throughout Europe, Cameroon, Saipan CNMI, and Guam.

Randi greatly enjoyed nature, flowers, birds, and animals. She received pleasure from all of these things. She also enjoyed the ocean, swimming, hiking and camping. She enjoyed music and dancing. She was a careful and selective shopper. She was skilled in knitting, embroidering and crochet. She loved to paint.

Randi was a devoted, caring, supporting and loving wife. The family takes comfort in knowing that she is now at peace.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday August 20, 2016 from 4-6:00pm at the Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy. Severna Park, MD 21146. In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association Greater Maryland, 1850 York Road, Suite D, Timonium, MD 21093.
