Randal Allen Landis, 58, of Glen Burnie, Maryland passed away peacefully at home on May 3, 2023.
Randal was born on May 13, 1964 in Oakland, Maryland. He was the son of a military family and spent his youth living around the world. His family eventually settled at Fort Meade in Maryland. He graduated from Meade Senior High School in 1982. Randal received his Associates degree from Anne Arundel Community College in 1984 and went on to continue his studies in Economics and Philosophy at Towson University. These were subjects that he was very passionate about.
Randal was saved. He was proud to be a part of the Catholic community and was a parishioner at Our Lady of the Fields Roman Catholic Church. He went through the RCIA program in April 2018 and he loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It was something he valued most in his life.
Randal was a person who loved the outdoors and going hiking at Patapsco or mountain biking. He loved sports. He loved working with his hands and he was so talented in everything dealing with home improvement. He loved his family with a passion and was so proud of his son and of being a father. He loved new vocabulary words and would text friends obscure words in a sentence that they would have to look up. He was an excellent cook and loved to make up recipes. His prowess in the kitchen definitely was the key to winning the small local neighborhood salsa contest one year at the Cinco de Mayo celebration. He loved that fact. His laugh was contagious. His smile lit up the world. He had such a charisma that made people feel special and just want to be around him.
Randal liked to read Proverbs in the morning and he would highlight things that meant a lot to him. He wore a bracelet made for him that said "Humility Before Honor". He said it was a constant reminder to him of how he wanted to try to live and make choices daily. It comes from Proverbs 18:2: Before a downfall the heart is haughty, but humility comes before honor.
Randal is survived by his mother and stepfather, Janie and Russell Bennett. His two brothers David and Eric Francis and his son Matthew Campbell.
Friends and Family may honor him by attending a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Fields Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at 11:00AM located at 1070 Cecil Ave S, Millersville, MD 21108.
