Ralph Sorrentino
Ralph J. Sorrentino, 93, of Severna Park, died of natural causes Oct. 29 at his home after a brief illness.
Mr. Sorrentino was born Aug. 19, 1914, and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., and lived in Severna Park for the past 22 years. During World War II he joined the Army and was a sharpshooter and light gunner.
He was a special agent for the Internal Revenue Service for more than 30 years, and following his retirement from the federal government he continued to work on the state level for another five years.
He was a lightweight boxer in his youth and a ballroom dancer who also enjoyed watercolor painting.
In 1940 he married Michalina Gilbert, who is now deceased. Surviving are one daughter, Dolores Sorrentino Booker of Arnold; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 689 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park. Burial will be in Fort Lincoln Cemetery, 3401 Bladensburg Road, Bladensburg.
