Army Private Eric M. Kavanagh, 20, of Severna Park, was killed in action in Iraq Sept. 20.
Mr. Kavanagh was born June 1, 1986, in Washington, D.C., and reared in Severna Park, where he attended Folger McKinsey Elementary, Severna Park Middle and Chesapeake High School.
He served with the Army's 26th Infantry of the 1st Division Blue Spaders. Prior to that, he worked at the Maryland Pennysaver. His interests included music and playing the guitar.
Surviving are his parents, Kevin Kavanagh of Severna Park and Rhonda Kavanagh of Glen Burnie; one brother, Patrick Kavanagh of Severna Park; one sister, Alanna Kavanagh of Severna Park; and his grandparents, Shirley Kerns of Glen Burnie and Keith Morris of Stockbridge, Ga.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. The funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11am. The location of the service has been changed from the funeral home to Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church, 611 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd, Severna Park. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia. In Lieu of Flowers: Memorial contributions can be made to Jacobs Light Foundation, 116 Nadia Court, Port Jefferson, NY 11777.
