Powell Staines III

Powell "Raymond" Staines III, 53, of Severna Park, died of cancer Jan. 17 at Anne Arundel Medical Center.

Born in Annapolis on June 10, 1952, Mr. Staines was the son of Genevieve Staines of Severna Park and the late Powell "Raymond" Staines Jr. A longtime resident of Severna Park, he graduated from Mount St. Joseph High School in Baltimore and worked at Johns Hopkins Hospital as a certified architect for more than 20 years.

He was an avid boater who also enjoyed sailing, trap shooting, swimming, camping and fishing on the Severn River with friends.

He was formerly married to Elizabeth Staines of Annapolis.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by one son, Timothy Raymond Staines of Arnold; one daughter, Carrie Ann Staines of Severna Park; two brothers, Ronald Staines of Gambrills and Barry Staines of Key Largo, Fla.; and one sister, Barbara Staines of Severna Park.

Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway. No formal services are planned and burial will be private. Visit www.barrancofuneralhome.com for online condolences.
