On October 11th 2012 our beloved Phyllis Wajbel passed peacefully at the Mandrin House in Harwood, Maryland with her loved ones by her side.

Born on April 26th 1930 in Baltimore to joyous parents Lawrence O. Brown and Marie McQuaid, Phyllis grew up on Wall Street in Baltimore City where, after the early passing of her mother, she helped raise and instill the values that would lead to a lifetime of success into her brother and sisters. It was there in Baltimore where, in 1958, she married Amiel Wajbel and together they set off on a 54 year love affair.

She cherished her family passionately, and as the family grew, so did her love. She and Amiel moved to Cape St. Claire in 1959, where they loved hosting crab feasts and family get-togethers every weekend at their home where she became known for her world famous crab soup and crab cake recipes. Phyllis also loved crossword puzzles, musical theatre, singing, and was very active in both the church choir and the ladies group at St. Andrews by the Bay.

Phyllis is survived by her loving husband, Amiel; her sisters, Sandra of Pasadena and Mary Kay of Baltimore; as well as her son, Steven and his wife Deborah; and her 2 daughters, Gina and her husband Rick; Susan and her husband Jeff; and 7 grandchildren: Jason, Joshua, Erin, Sean, Lauren, Logan, and Jessica. She is preceded in death by her brother Duke and her sisters, Joyce and Betty. She will be dearly missed, but her spirit will live on in all of us.

Friends may visit on Sunday October 14, 2012 from 2-4 & 6-8:00pm at the Barranco & Sons,P.A Severna Park Funeral Home 495 Ritchie Highway Severna Park, MD 21146.
