Phyllis Adele Richardson-Hammond, 96, of Knoxville, MD died of natural causes on December 1, 2009 at Vindobona Nursing Home in Braddock Heights, MD.
She was born to her parents Phillip and Sophia Emge on January 5, 1913 in Baltimore, MD. She was raised in Glen Burnie and lived in Millersville and Arnold, prior to moving to Knoxville in 1999.
Mrs. Richardson-Hammond worked as a seamstress for Hutzler's Department Store in Pasadena and was a homemaker. She was a member of Sandy Hook United Methodist Church and previously a member and Sunday School Teacher at Glen Burnie United Methodist Church, Pasadena United Methodist Church and Asbury United Methodist Church in Arnold. She enjoyed crafts, music and traveling.
Mrs. Richardson-Hammond was preceded in death by her first husband, Harry S. Richardson, who died in 1965; her husband, Richard N. Hammond, who died in 1985; her five brothers and one sister; and her lifelong friend, Gertrude Dvorak who died in 2009.
She is survived by her sons, Donald Richardson (Sue) of Millersville, MD and Norman Richardson (Betty) of Knoxville, MD; seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation at the Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home 495 Ritchie Hwy. Severna Park, MD 21146 on Friday, December 4, 2009 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm and on Saturday from 11:00am to 12:00 noon. The funeral service will follow at 12 noon with the interment at Woodlawn Cemetery in Baltimore.
