Phillip Baxter Whitt, 67, of Millersville for 26 years, died of a brain tumor Aug. 9 at the Tate Hospice House in Linthicum after a five-month illness.

Mr. Whitt was born Dec. 25, 1940, in Grundy, Va., and was raised in Arnold.

He was self-employed.

He served in the Marine Corps for five years and was discharged as a sergeant in 1963.

He enjoyed fishing and crabbing on the Chesapeake Bay.

Survivors include his wife of over 30 years, Sheila Wiant Whitt; two sons, Brian Whitt of Westminster and Aaron Whitt of Redwood City, Calif.; one daughter, Sarah Whitt Riddle of Cincinnati, Ohio; two sisters, Janella Sue Hendricks of Arnold and Linda Whitt of Woodfield, Ohio; and five grandchildren.

Interment will be private. Arrangements are by Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, Tate House, 817 S. Camp Meade Road, Linthicum, MD 21090.
