Peter W.
D'Anna
October 31, 1921 – July 30, 2021
Born on October 31. 1921 in Falls Creek, PA, he was the son of the late
James and Lucy (Meyo) D'Anna. In addition to his parents, he was preceded
in death by his brother John J. D'Anna of Brockway, PA, and his wife, Mary
(Myczkoski) D'Anna.
Peter is survived by his sister, Mary Ann Ferko and her husband William of
Punxsutawney, PA, and his children, Richard D'Anna, Dorothy D'Anna and her
husband Charles McDonald.
Pete was a 1941 graduate of Parks Air College (St. Louis University)
Aeronautical Engineering program, and served in the US Army Air Force as
2nd Lieutenant World War II (North Africa), honorably discharged in 1944.
After the war, Pete embarked on a career in Aeronautical Engineering with
a number of aerospace companies, culminating with a lengthy and successful
career with the Westinghouse Aerospace Engineering Division, Baltimore,
MD, retiring in January 1989.
Both before and after retirement, Pete spent over 25 years as a volunteer
docent for the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. Pete also volunteered as
an aviation consultant and as a judge of antique aircraft shows.
Not only was Pete interested in airplanes, he was an accomplished
musician, playing classical piano and theatre pipe organ. His interest in
music extended to restoration of theatre pipe organs. He was a member and
past president of the Free State Theatre Organ Society.
Pete was an avid golfer, loved to cook his Italian specialties and
spending time with his Westinghouse Retirement group, both in-person and
online.
Family and Friends may visit on Tuesday August 3, 2021 from 4:00-7:00pm at Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home & Cremation Care, P.A 495 Ritchie hwy. Severna Park, MD 21146. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Wednesday August 4, 2021 at 11:00am at Our Lady of the Fields Roman Catholic Church 1070 Cecil Ave. Millersville, MD 21108. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.
