Loving Father, proud grandfather and lifelong storyteller, Peter James Carlin, passed away on November 5, 2022 at the age of 83.  Pete held on for his three children and spouses to say goodbye, leaving a legacy of love, laughter and family.  Pete completed his Bachelor's at Notre Dame University College in British Columbia and after teaching the Dene Dháa in northwest Alberta, took a break to travel the world, meeting his wife Peggy Dowdy Carlin in Barcelona, Spain.  They married soon after and made their home for 51 years in Springfield, Virginia.

Pete could always be found in the kitchen working on his latest pot of soup and would light up a room with his infectious smile and laughter. Pete never met a stranger and lived everyday with a smile on his face, his next story waiting to be told. His storytelling was so masterful that in his later years when he was retelling his actual life adventures to whoever would listen, whether it was working with Indians in Canada, catching a bullfight in Barcelona with Larry, or hopping a plane to Australia with no cash to meet Peggy, people thought he was simply making it all up!

Pete and Peg's home was an anchor for family, friends and the community for over five decades. Papa Pete is survived by their three children and spouses, and six wonderful grandchildren.
