IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Peter J.
Bruha
December 10, 1935 – July 9, 2023
Peter Joseph Bruha, resident of Severna Park, was born in La Crosse, Wisconsin on December 10, 1935 to Ethel Mae Conrad and Frank Charles Bruha, after which the family moved to St. Paul, Minnesota. He pursued a degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Minnesota, and upon graduation, accepted a position at Westinghouse Electrical Corporation in Baltimore. He met and married his wife Frances Gatti of Chevy Chase, Maryland in 1963, and moved to Severna Park, where they raised their children, and have been long-time members of the Cape Arthur community. His entire career was spent in the naval defense contracting industry, specializing in underwater towed array and sonar systems for submarine detection.
He was a faithful parishioner at St. John the Evangelist, served as a weekend lector, and attended daily Mass. He was a founding member of the Severna Park Model Railroad Club, and passed along his passion for trains to his family. They enjoyed yearly, month-long cross country motor home trips together, exploring many of the national parks, with numerous side excursions in pursuit of active and abandoned railroad relics.
He was a past president of the Cape Arthur Improvement Association and the North Cape Arthur Swim Club, officiating at many of the children's swim meets. He was a member of the Milwaukee Road Historical Association and the Milwaukee Road Heritage Association.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Frances, son Paul (Laure), daughter Ann, and son Stephen (Ginger), five grandchildren: Christine, Jennifer, Patrick, Victoria, and Christopher and five great-grandchildren.
