Peggy Weaverling, age 95, died at her home on Tuesday, May 2, 2017.  Born in Yorkshire England, she served in the Royal Air Force during World War II, where she met and married the love of her life James "Jim" B. Weaverling, a U.S. Army soldier.  In 1946, along with her first child, Peggy sailed to the U.S. upon the Queen Mary.  After arriving in the U.S., Peggy had two more children, became a naturalized U.S. citizen and made a permanent residence in Arnold, Maryland.

Peggy was an accomplished master seamstress, who also enjoyed knitting, cooking, reading, and crossword puzzles.  She enjoyed traveling the United States and abroad, and especially delighted in taking her family on trips to England to share her British heritage, as well as hosting her British family on trips to the U.S.  Peggy worked for the Board of Education for 10 years before becoming a sundries/fabrics buyer and sales manager at the posh Hutzler Brothers Department Store, where she retired in 1985 after 20 years.

Peggy celebrated 63 years of blissful marriage with Jim.  She is survived by two sons, Gerald and Roger Weaverling, and one daughter, Dawn Weaverling, all of Arnold; 5 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Annie Jones, her husband James B. Weaverling, and her sister Betty Morton.

Visitation is 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM, Sunday, May 7, 2017, at Barranco & Sons Funeral Home 495 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park, where services will also be held at 11 AM on Monday, May 8, 2017 prior to burial at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, 90 Ritchie Highway, Pasadena, MD 21122.  Online condolences may be made to www.barrancofuneralhome.com .
