Peggy Jeanne Grigonis (Hardy)

(August 8, 1946 – March 1, 2025)

Peggy Jeanne Grigonis, 78 a resident of Marietta, GA for eight years, died on March 1, 2025 at her home by Cardiac Arrest due to complications from Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.

Peggy was born on August 8, 1946 in Washington DC, where she was also raised. In addition, Peggy resided most of her life in Arnold, Maryland where she raised her 4 children.

After obtaining and embracing one of the first women UPS driver positions in the early 1980's, Peggy worked for Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance prior to settling down and retiring from The Congressional Budget Office, Washington, DC in 2017 to be closer to one of her amazing grandchildren.

The only true role Peggy cared about was being MOM – she always knew how to make you smile. When we were happy, she was happy. Whether it was bad dreams, sickness, or a bother pinching you extremely hard, she was on it! She always made us feel loved, appreciated, and validated. Her most proud accomplishment is knowing the magnitude of influence she had on her children, instilling the fundamentals to not only navigate life, but to own our path, our choices, and embrace the challenges, enjoying the "fruits-of-life" that comes from "growth along the path". She was our mentor, organizer, taxi driver, handywoman, educator, referee, doctor, nurse – she was MOM!

In retirement, Peggy became very involved with her charities donating to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, St. Jude, ASPCA (Peggy LOVED animals), and to Tunnel to Towers. Her positive energy will continue to radiate with every thought and memory of her!

She is survived by her daughter Jacqueline Railey, sons David Grigonis and Joesph Grigonis, and her grandchildren, Lilly Grigonis, Brixton Grigonis, and Eleanor Grigonis.

A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday April 5, 2025 from 1:00pm-3:00pm at Barranco Severna Park Funeral Home & Cremation Care,P.A. 495 Ritchie Hwy Severna Park, MD 21146.
