Paul Dietz
Paul J. Dietz, 57, of Severna Park, died of cancer Dec. 21 at home.
Born Aug. 15, 1949, in Detroit, Mich., Mr. Dietz graduated from Wayne State University and earned a master's degree from Central Michigan University.
Mr. Dietz served with the Michigan Army National Guard.
He worked for the Department of the Navy, Naval Audit Service Installations Division, for 22 years as Installations Audit Director. As director, he received numerous commendations and awards, managed audits pertaining to antiterrorism/force protection, and was Intelligence Administrative Oversight Audit Manager for Base Closure and Realignment. He provided direction to audit managers and teams based in the Washington Navy Yard and San Diego.
His interests included earning a pilot's license and flying, sailing on the Chesapeake Bay, tennis, golf, astronomy and running marathons. A lifelong fan of the Detroit Tigers, he was a founding member of the Detroit Tigers Mayo Smith Society.
Surviving are his wife, Michaline Dietz; two sisters, Rita Sisinger and Diane Dutkiewicz, both of Sterling Heights, Mich.; and one brother, Henry Dietz of Bloomfield Hills, Mich.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 109 Duke of Gloucester St., Annapolis. Burial is private.
