After a protracted battle with Ewing's Sarcoma Cancer, Patrick Kavanagh died on February 29, 2016 peacefully at his home in Severna Park, MD surrounded by family and friends nine days before his 24th Birthday. He leaves behind his mother Rhonda Kavanagh, his father Kevin Kavanagh, sister Alanna Kavanagh and his partner and friend Cassandra Baker, he is preceded in death by his brother Eric Kavanagh who was killed in combat in Iraq in September of 2006.
Patrick was born on March 9, 1992 in Severna Park, MD and attended Folger Mckinsey Elementary, Severna Park Middle and Severna Park High Schools.
Patrick's passion has always been his music. From playing guitar and singing at a young age, to performing at coffee houses, hosting open mics, teaching vocal lessons, performing in a rock opera, and most recently composing, performing and recording his own music.
Patrick is survived by his father and stepmother, Kevin and Karla Kavanagh; his mother and stepfather, Rhonda Kavanagh and Mike Shinsky; his sister, Alanna Kavanagh; his partner and friend Cassandra Baker; as well as numerous grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his brother, Eric Kavanagh.
Friends may visit Thursday March 3, 2016 from 2-4 & 6-8:00pm at the Barranco & Sons, P.A Severna Park Funeral Home 495 Ritchie Hwy. Severna Park, MD 21146. Services will be held on Friday March 4, 2016 at 11:00am in the funeral home chapel. Cremation to follow. A Celebration of Life will be held after the service in the Elks Lodge in Severna Park; all are welcome.
The family would especially like to thank the Johns Hopkins Pediatric Oncology Doctors and nurses for their constant, attentive treatment and the Hospice of the Chesapeake.
