Born in New York City, New York on September 21, 1938. First of three daughters born to Bernhard and Antoinette Seelinger. She grew up in Parkchester, NY and in Croton on Hudson, NY, where she graduated from Croton-Harman High School in 1956. She attended Bennington College before moving to New York City.
From an early age Pat had two passions, dancing and writing. She followed both and ultimately went on to publish 17 novels. Her professional career spanned that of author, editor, teacher and artist. Her first novel, The Summer Before received the 1973 American I-library Associatjon's "Best Book for Young Adults" award. In 1986 she received the Edgar Allen Poe award for her novel, The Sandman's Eyes. She was a writing instructor with the Long Ridge Writers Group for over thirty years.
On her own, she raised two children, a daughter, Patience Windsor Jackson, of Sevema Park and a son, Ted Windsor of San Francisco. With her partner of 17 years, Richard Hampton, Pat spent the last ten years living in Sevema Park, close to and where she was actively involved with her three grandchildren, Nicholas, Phoebe and Teddy Jackson. Pat is also survived by two sisters, Jane Toker of Oak ton VA, and Susan Brown of Englewood, FL.
Patricia was a woman who followed her passions and turned dreams into reality. She touched many people with her optimism, humor, kindness, lovalty and love. She was one of few who really, truly listen.
There will be a memorial visitation on July 17, 2010 from 10:00 to 11:00am follow by a memorial service at 11:00am. The intermentwill be private.
