A Mass of Christian burial will be offered Friday, July 16 for Patricia G. Tilghman of Severna Park.
Mrs. Tilghman, who died of cancer, was 79.
Patricia Gill was born to Charles P. and Regina Y, Gill of Baltimore, September 4, 1930, the second of the couple's four children. She was a 1947 graduate of the Catholic High School of Baltimore and attended Mount St. Agnes College. She was employed by Commercial Credit in Baltimore until 1958.
On October 22, 1955, she married William J. Tilghman, also of Baltimore. Mr. Tilghman, an insurance agent, was vice president of Murray Martin and Olson, Inc., an Annapolis firm before his retirement in 1989.
The couple raised five children, first in Northwood and then beginning in 1965 in Severna Park. Mrs. Tilghman was active in her children's schools, particularly St. John's School, and in the community. Although she had many interests, including needlework, cooking and travel, she was most interested in activities involving her family.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 55 years, as well as their five children and their spouses, Mary K. Tilghman and her husband Raymond G. Truitt of Baltimore, William C. Tilghman and his wife Penny Tilghman of Arnold, Mary R. Dushel and her husband Thomas Dushel of Severna Park, Mary P. Tilghman and her husband Daniel Eberhardt of Pasadena and John P. Tilghman and his wife Laura Tilghman of Belair, as well as their 16 grandchildren: Elizabeth, John and Katherine Truitt, Sarah and Samantha Eberhardt, Michael, Mark and John Dushel, Megan and Joseph Tilghman and Rebecca, William, Abigail, Elizabeth, Matthew and Anna Tilghman.
Viewing will take place at Barranco and Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park, Thursday, July 15, 7-9 p.m. The funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Friday, July 16, with burial at New Cathedral Cemetery to follow.
