Patricia Jean Peterson "Ruffner" of Severna Park passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on June 23.  Born in 1931 in Brockway, PA, she lent her beautiful singing voice to the high school chorus and church choir. She and her husband "Pete" moved to Severna Park in 1960 and became very active in the Pasadena Methodist church, doing volunteer work, singing in the choir, and directing the children's choir. She performed in the local singing group "The Four Clefs", helped start the popular Severnaders choral group and participated in the Annapolis Summer Garden Theater. Jean and her good friend, Joan Compton, performed as "Jean and Joan" locally and on cruise ships.

Jean and Pete moved to McKinsey Park where she was the social director providing dinner parties and putting on murder mysteries and passionately cheering for the Ravens football team with all her friends.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband Noel "Pete" Peterson and granddaughter Kathleen Peterson. She is survived by her sons David Noel Peterson and Jon Arden Peterson of Severna Park and Susan Dean of Virginia. She was blessed with two daughter-in-laws Ann Marie and Karen; one son-in-law Barney Dean; and six grandchildren; Daniel (Kaitlyn), Jessie, Corey, Michael, Dean, and Zac.

Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 from 1-3pm and 5-7pm at the Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at 10am in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville, 1122 Sunrise Beach Rd, Crownsville, MD 21032.
