Patricia Jean McGlumphy, 89 of Annapolis, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Anne Arundel Medical Center.
Born April 28, 1931 in Graysville, Pennsylvania, she was the only child of the late Joseph M. Berdine and the Robinetta Carpenter Berdine.
Pat graduated from Warwood High School in Wheeling, West Virginia and earned her Bachelors of Arts in elementary education from Fairmont State University in Fairmont, West Virginia. Pat taught third grade first at Hundred Elementary School in Hundred, West Virginia and then at Long Drain School in Metz, West Virginia, until her retirement in 1998. She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa, the International Honorary Organization for Women Educators and the West Virginia Chapter of Alpha Rho. After retirement, she moved to Annapolis, Maryland to be with her daughter and her family. As a member of Severna Park United Methodist Church, she was an active member of the church's XYZ senior group, serving for a time as its president. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women, and for a time sang in the church's Sanctuary Choir.
She was a wonderful role model for her children, grandchildren, and her many students. Her family and friends love her and will miss her, but all know that she is with God and her heavenly family.
Patricia is survived by her daughter Karen McGlumphy Smith (Melvin) of Annapolis, her son William M. McGlumphy (Julie) of Hundred, WV and her son James M. McGlumphy (Bonnie) of Hundred, WV. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; Melissa Smith Murphy, Elizabeth Smith, Christian McGlumphy, Scott McGlumphy (Elsa), Bruce McGlumphy, Holly McGlumphy Radabaugh (Shawn), Matthew McGlumphy (Crystal), Jessica McGlumphy Mace (Jason), and Joseph McGlumphy as well as multiple great-grandchildren.
