Patricia D. Hayes
26 Aug 1946 to 8 Feb 2023
Beloved Wife & Mother
Remembered by her three sons, Michael, Christopher, and James along with her 6 nieces and nephews.
Pat was born and raised in New York, the younger of two siblings. In 1970 she married Harry N. Hayes Jr., a marriage that would endure for 47 years and ended only by his passing. They lived in Maryland, Virginia, and California before eventually settling in back in Maryland with their three sons.
Strong in her faith, Pat has been involved in Severn Run EP Church from it's founding. She was a notable fixture in the church and a much loved, feisty, and active member of the church until her passing.
An avid reader, she instilled a great love for books in her sons and sought to pass both books and her love for them to others.
She was greatly loved by all who knew her and will be sadly missed.
The memorial will be held at Severn Run EP Church the morning of Monday, March 6th prior to her internment at the Crownsville Veterans Cemetery at 1130 am. Refreshments to follow at Severn Run immediately after.
'I wish it need not have happened in my time,'
'So do I, and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.'
― J. R. R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring, The Lord of the Rings
"To the sea, to the sea! The white gulls are crying, The wind is blowing, and the white foam is flying.
West, west away, the round sun is falling, Grey ship, grey ship, do you hear them calling, The voices of my people that have gone before me?
I will leave, I will leave the woods that bore me; For our days are ending and our years failing.
I will pass the wide waters lonely sailing.
Long are the waves on the Last Shore falling, Sweet are the voices in the Lost Isle calling, In Eressea, in Elvenhome that no man can discover, Where the leaves fall not: land of my people forever!"
― J. R. R. Tolkien, The Return of the King, The Lord of the Rings
