Patricia Aronowitz, 88, current resident of Surfside, Florida died peacefully with her family by her side on October 17 in Severna Park, Maryland.
Pat was a registered nurse who had previously worked with veterans suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Montrose, New York until her retirement in 1992.
She was born in Binghamton, New York on October 9, 1928. She met and married Stewart Aronowitz in 1954. Following their marriage, they spent two wonderful years living in the Netherlands. In 1956, the first of her 5 children was born. After raising those children with her husband, she returned to school and obtained her Bachelors of Nursing degree at Dutchess Community College. She and Stewart resided at Pinchpenny, Salt Point Turnpike in Pleasant Valley from 1967 until retiring to Surfside, Florida in 1992.
Pat was an avid walker and reader who touched those around her with her good-natured, loving personality and wonderfully spirited sense of humor. Pat loved her children and grandchildren deeply. And she was especially devoted to the Corgi dogs that graced her life.
Pat's husband, Stewart, preceded her in death in 2011 after 56 years of devoted and loving marriage. She is survived by her 5 children, David, of Columbus, Ohio, Paul, of Mill Valley, California, Michael, of Poughkeepsie, New York, Ann Potthast, of Gambrills, Maryland, and Dennis P., of Clifton Park, New York. She is also survived by daughters-in-law Carol, Cam-Tu and Diane as well as by her son-in-law, Jack. Other survivors include 9 grandchildren, Anna, Catherine, Andrew, Daniel, Brian, Caroline, Samantha, Sarah and Sasha. A private memorial celebration of her life will take place in the spring in Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations to Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Smile Train or Pembroke Corgi Rescue are encouraged.
