Olivia Kaye Halvis, 59, a resident of Severna Park for 17 years, died of multiple sclerosis June 29 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
Born Dec. 10, 1946, in Washington, N.C., Mrs. Halvis was reared in Kinstno, N.C., and lived in Virginia Beach, Va., for eight years and Arnold for eight years before moving to Severna Park.
Mrs. Halvis graduated from Atlantic Christian College in Wilson, N.C., in 1968 and worked as a teacher in Virginia Beach.
She was very involved in Asbury United Methodist Church for the past 25 years and served as past president of the United Methodist Women.
Her interests included being a homemaker and the church.
Surviving are her husband, James Halvis; two daughters, Susan Lynn Halvis of Pasadena and Kathryn Knezovic of Houston; one brother, Gary Smith of Atlanta; and one sister, Camile Archie of Richmond, Va.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway in Severna Park. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at Asbury United Methodist Church, 78 Church Road in Arnold, where burial will follow in the church cemetery.
