IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Olive
Baillargeon
July 8, 1930 – October 14, 2024
Olive Patricia Baillargeon passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on October 14, 2024. She was 94 years old.
Olive was born July 8, 1930, to John Raymond Bahlman and Catherine Mary Bahlman (neé Fischer). She was raised in Baltimore, MD, and attended grade school at St. Rose of Lima School and Church, where she was later a parishioner for many years. Olive attended Seton High School, obtained a bachelor's degree from the Maryland State Teachers College (now Towson University) and a master's degree in education from the University of Maryland.
On January 6, 1949, Olive married her first love Maynard William Heagy. Four years later, they were blessed with their first daughter, Deborah, and four years after that, welcomed Deanna to the family.
Like her mother and sister, Olive found her professional calling in educating young students and preparing them for life. She worked for more than three decades as an educator in Maryland and Virginia, teaching first in the Baltimore City school systems and then at parochial schools in the Archdiocese of Baltimore. Over her teaching career, she taught at St. Jerome's (Baltimore), St. Mark's (Catonsville) and St. Pius (Virginia Beach). For the last eleven years of her career, she was Principal St. Mary's Govan's in Baltimore. She was active in the Catholic community as well, serving as a longstanding member of the Catholic Daughters of Americas in Maryland.
Olive was passionate about music. As a young lady in the 1950's she sang French operas, performing at the Lyric and other local venues. She was a talented pianist, playing often as an organist at parish mass, and piano for school events, weddings, and of course, at holiday and other family get-togethers. Throughout her life, Olive continued to sing as a member of her parish choir.
Olive's first husband Maynard passed in 1997. She remained busy with a growing cadre of grandchildren, and about a year later, met Roger Baillargeon at a bereavement group for widows and widowers. (Roger having lost his wife Jean several years prior.) Olive and Roger married August 8,1999, in a special ceremony that honored Maynard and Jean. Thereafter, Olive and Roger spent their golden years living an incredibly full life, traveling extensively and spending time with Olive's grandchildren, their beloved spouses, whom she came to see as grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. Olive also remained active in her community, singing in the Heritage Harbour Chorus, and serving as the community's "Sunshine Lady," visiting the sick and providing transportation and other assistance to neighbors in need.
Olive is survived by her husband Roger Baillargeon of Arnold, MD; her daughter Deborah Eren and son in love Dr. Fer Eren of Arnold, MD; her seven grandchildren and their five spouses, Michael C. Hardy, II (Maria) of Millersville, MD, Joshua R. Hardy (Ashley) of Severn, MD, Zachary R. Hardy (Olia) of Linthicum, MD, Melissa Webb (Kevin) of Severna Park, MD,
Mary Moorhouse (Michael) of Linthicum, MD, Meghan Scott of Severn, MD, Jodi Eren of Arnold, MD; and her 13 great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Jackson, Gabi, Noah, Eli, Jonah, Michael, William, Camden, Caleb, Maddie, Maverick and Maxton.
Olive was preceded in death by her first husband, Maynard Heagy, her daughter Deanna Scott, and her sister and best friend, Catherine.
