Noel Colberg (Pete) Peterson, 82, of Severna Park, passed away peacefully at his home with his family on Sunday, September 4, 2011. After serving in the Army in Korea, he graduated from Penn State with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics. He worked at Sylvania before moving to Severna Park to work at Westinghouse in the NASA Division. He was part of the team who developed the first camera sent to the moon, which earned them an Emmy. He was a member of the Sons of American Legion in his youth and also a cub and boy scout leader. He loved music, playing the guitar, and singing in church choirs. He performed in the singing group "The Four Clefs" and along with his wife Jean, were founding members of the Severnaders Chorale group. He loved acting and building sets for the Annapolis Summer Garden theater and Colonial Players. His passion was fishing and he enjoyed trips to Canada with his buddies and family.
He was a diehard fan of the O's, Terrapin basketball, the Baltimore Colts, Ravens, and especially Penn State football. He was honored with numerous awards for his dedication and volunteerism within the community and at the National Electronics Museum. He was a member of the board of directors at the McKinsey Park Condo Association where he resided.

Noel was preceded in death by his older brother, Carroll Peterson. He is survived by his wife, whom he adored, Patricia (Jean) Peterson, sons, David N. Peterson and Jon A. Peterson, Daughter, Susan J. Sayers, two daughter-in-laws, Ann Marie Peterson and Karen Peterson, son-in-law, Jerry Sayers, six grandchildren, Danny, Jessie, Michael, Cory, Zach, and Dean, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Family and friends may visit on Thursday September 8 from 2-4 and 6-8 at Barranco and Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home 495 Ritchie Hwy in Severna Park. Funeral services will be held at Pasadena United Methodist Church, 61 Ritchie Hwy on Friday, Sept 9, 2011, at 9:30 am, with interment to follow at MD Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.
