Funeral services and burial were held Jan. 16 in Brooklin Cemetery, Brooklin, Maine, for Neil Garrett Johnson, 25, a three-year resident of Severna Park and formerly of Ellicott City, who died of cancer Jan. 13 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore after a lengthy illness.
Born March 23, 1979, in Garden Grove, Calif., the son of Craig Lione and Katherine T. Grosh Johnson of Severna Park, Mr. Johnson attended the University of Maine in Orono and later graduated from Purdue University in 2003 with a bachelor of science degree in industrial engineering and a minor in management information systems.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed kite-surfing, rock-climbing, sailing, mountain biking, fishing, kayaking and travel.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are one sister, Jamie Gracz of San Diego, Calif.; one brother, Andrew Johnson of Baltimore; and grandparents, Raymond and Laura Johnson of Port Allegany, Pa., and Richard and Suzanne Grosh of Brooklin, Maine.
Arrangements are by Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home in Severna Park.
