On Thursday January 5, 2023, Nancy L. Norris died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 94.

Nancy was born in Baltimore, MD on May 21, 1928, the second of 4 daughters to John S. and Carmelita (Haeffner) Miller. She attended Mt St Agnes High School and graduated from Mt St Agnes College, now Loyola University, practicing as a Medical Technologist in Richmond VA and Baltimore.   On May 21, 1955, she married James H Norris Jr and with him, raised 7 children in Baltimore and later, Severna Park.

She was a bright and engaged woman, who managed a busy (aka loud) household, while finding time for entertaining, playing bridge, tennis and traveling. As a mom, she was the GOAT ( G reatest O f A ll T ime); she encouraged and supported our wide range of interests. In 1994, Nancy and Jim moved to Port St Lucie, Florida to enjoy their retirement years.  Following Jim's death in 2002, Nancy continued an active life of bridge, scrabble games, church activities, travel with her many friends and visits to family, all while rarely missing an episode of Jeopardy. In 2015, Nancy moved to Palm Desert, CA to be near her West Coast family. She remained there until recently, when she moved back to Severna Park to be closer to her roots and her East Coast family.

Nancy led a remarkable life. She was the center of a family who loved and cherished her calm demeanor, wisdom, fun loving spirit and beautiful smile. She will be greatly missed by her entire family and wide circle of friends.

Nancy is preceded in death by her husband Jim, and her sisters, Carolyn and Patricia.  She is survived by her children Mary (Phillip) Felando, Karen (Kevin) Willes, James H (Kathy) Norris, III, Ned (Cathy) Norris, Michael (Michele) Norris, Doug (Jennifer) Drake, and Anne (James) Butterworth and her sister Lita Calwell and grandchildren Matthew Perry, Christine McDowell, Jacqueline Bartlinski, Nancy Fulkerson, Daniel Norris, Amy Felando, Allyson Norris, Lindsay Butterworth, Stephanie King, Nicholas Butterworth and Shane Norris and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 from 4 pm-7pm at Barranco Funeral Home (495 Ritchie Hwy Severna Park, MD). A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at 10 am at St. John the Evangelist Church (689 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park, MD).

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Alzheimer's Association ( act.alz.org/donate ) or a charity of your choice.

Interment at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
