Nancy Murphy, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and community member, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a beautiful legacy of love, kindness, and passion for life.

Nancy was born on January 18, 1933, in Washington, D.C. She attended Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, where she began a career in nursing and worked in Labor and Delivery. Caring for others came naturally to Nancy, and her compassion would remain a defining part of her life.

In 1955, Nancy married the love of her life, Robert Murphy. They built their forever home in Olde Severna Park, where Robert started his dental practice. Together they were blessed with seven children, although their son John passed away shortly after birth. Her family was the center of her world, and she poured her heart into creating a loving home filled with memories, laughter, and togetherness.

Nancy was deeply involved in her community. She was an active member of St. John’s the Evangelist Church and the Olde Severna Park community. She taught swimming to local children and played an important role in starting girls’ lacrosse in Anne Arundel County, helping create opportunities for generations of young girls to learn, compete, and grow.

Nancy’s love of life extended far beyond her community. In her later years, she embraced her adventurous spirit and traveled to some of the most far-off and remarkable places in the world, including Africa, Alaska, Antarctica, and the Amazon. She was always curious about the world and eager to experience what was beyond the horizon.

At home, Nancy found joy in the simple things. She thoroughly enjoyed smocking, sewing, making baskets, making beautiful quilts, gardening, and spending time with the people she loved. Her creativity and care could be seen in everything she made and everything she touched.

Nancy was a loving mom and a cherished friend. She was kind, generous, and passionate toward everyone she met. She had a way of making people feel welcome and cared for, and the love she gave so freely will continue through the many lives she touched.

Nancy is survived by her six children Katie Needham, Timothy Murphy, Patrick Murphy, Jenn Murphy, Maggie Pike, Chris Murphy and their spouses, 19 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren, all of whom carry a piece of her love and legacy with them.

After 67 wonderful years together, Nancy is now reunited with the love of her life, Robert. Their love story continues, and the family finds comfort knowing they are together again.

She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.
