IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nancy M.
Mann
June 3, 1947 – July 16, 2018
Nancy was born in Harmon, West Virginia. She loved children, and pursued a career in Education, obtaining her Bachelor's degree from Fairmont State University and a Master's degree from John's Hopkins University. She served students and educators in the Anne Arundel County School System for 35 years, first as Teacher, then Assistant Principal and Principal, then Area Director. Much of her career involved serving as the Assistant Superintendent focused on Instruction, and finally as Interim Superintendent, along the way supporting education for over 80,000 students.
The roles that gave Nancy the greatest joy were Mom, Grandmommy, and Babe (one of John Kenneth's nicknames for her). Nancy also enjoyed being an active member of Grace Point Presbyterian Church, and a friend to many as she shared God's love in meaningful and tangible ways.
Nancy was a kind, gracious, positively oriented person who cared deeply for others and was motivated by her faith in Christ. She exemplified believing the best in both children and adults, building confidence and tapping into their strengths and abilities. Nancy was warm, caring, encouraging, compassionate, empathetic, purposed, prayerful, and focused on helping those in need. She really enjoyed a good laugh with family and friends. Nancy was a wonderful wife and mother, educator and leader, friend and volunteer! She gave much of herself, at work and at home, supporting others with a heart of service and being a blessing to many.
Nancy was preceded in life most abundant by her adoring husband of almost 40 years, John Kenneth Mann. She is survived by her son John Wesley, daughter-n-law Catherine, grandsons William and Spencer, brothers Dave and Ken Burgess, sisters Sharon Teter and Betty Scott, and many cousins, nephews and nieces.
