Nancy Henry, born and raised in Roland Park, Baltimore, passed away Tuesday, July 23rd, 2024 at Sunrise Assisted Living in Severna Park, MD. Nancy was the beloved only child of Norman and Elva Swayne and the devoted and loving wife of the late Captain William F. Henry, USN, RET, USNA Class of 1956 for 41 years.

Nancy and Bill met at the U.S. Naval Academy and were married on June 2nd, 1956. Bill's Naval Submarine career took them to Norfolk, VA, Charleston, SC, Key West, FL, Washington, DC, Newport News, VA and Cape Canaveral, FL. Nancy and Bill shared five children, all of whom were born at different duty stations. A new child miraculously appeared nine months after many submarine deployments!

Nancy's fondest moments were times spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was adored by us all. If ever you needed a reason to smile, she would be there. In addition to her 33 year career as a Navy Wife, she was a legal secretary for 20 years. Nancy loved laughing, reading, crafting, bowling, playing games of all kinds and Chardonnay!

Nancy was predeceased by her parents, her husband Bill, her daughter-in-law, Sharon, and companion Bob Barrett.
She is survived by her five children, Cheryl Henry (Mike Ratterman), Keith Henry (Donna), Nancy Timmons, Jennifer Hillman (Simon) and William Craig Henry (Sharon Stritehoff). She leaves 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren who affectionately called her "Moo". Nancy also leaves behind many lifelong friends, fellow Navy wives, traveling companions, card club members and fellow crafters.

A memorial service and celebration of Nancy's life will be held at the USNA Chapel at 10:30am on September 5th, 2024. Inurnment in the USNA Columbarium will immediately follow. Nancy will be laid to rest with her husband Bill, overlooking the campus they both so loved.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Nancy's name to the USNA Alumni Association or to Providence Of Maryland, 370 Shore Acres Rd, Arnold, MD 21012.
