Nancy Ellen Duffy, 73, a resident of Severna Park died suddenly on May 28, 2012 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, MD from a bacterial infection.

She was born on September 23, 1938 in Boston, MA to Alice and Jack Souter and raised in Needham, Scituate and South Boston. She graduated in 1956 from South Boston High School, where she was 2nd in her class out of 300, and she received a full scholarship to Boston University. She graduated in 1958 from Boston University with a Business Administration degree.

Nancy married James F. Duffy in 1960 and lived in Weymouth, MA until 1969, when her family moved to Pittsburgh. In 1974, she and her family came to Severna Park, and has been here ever since.

She worked as a secretary and bookkeeper alongside her husband in his sales agency. She thoroughly enjoyed knitting, reading, shopping, cooking, crossword puzzles, tennis, her monthly "lunch bunch" and poker groups, and especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Stephen Souter, and her parents, Alice and Jack Souter.

She is survived by her husband, James F. Duffy of Severna Park; two daughters, Susan Duffy of Annapolis and Ellen Duffy Schwab of Highland; and seven grandchildren, Alex Fu, 23, Kayla Fu, 19, Chloe Fu, 16, Corey Schwab, 19, Danielle Schwab, 15, Brett Schwab, 12, and Bailey Schwab, 12.

Family and friends may visit on Friday, June 1, 2012 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park, MD 21146. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 9:00 am at St. Mary's Church, 109 Duke of Gloucester Street, Annapolis, MD 21401. Interment will be on Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Annapolis.
