Nancy McDermott Simison Brown, 94, died on August 4, 2016 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis.

She was born on March 29, 1922 in Chicago, IL to George and Hazel McDermott (deceased). Nancy was raised in Toledo, Ohio, graduated from DeVilbiss High School in 1940, and graduated from Marjorie Webster Jr. College in Silver Springs, MD in 1942.

During WWII, she was employed by the U.S. War Department in Santa Barbara, CA, where she met and married Lt. Rowland M. Simison, Marine Air Corps, of Romney, Indiana.

In 1950, Nancy and Rowland (Sim) bought their first home in Whittier, CA, where Sim was recalled to active duty during the Korean conflict in 1952. They moved to Altadena, CA in 1952. When Sim returned from active duty, he gained employment with Owens-Illinois Glass Company in Los Angeles for several years before transferring to San Francisco when they purchased a home in Walnut Creek, CA.

In 1966, he was transferred to Baltimore, MD O-I plant. In 1973, Sim and Nancy were transferred to O-I home offices in Toledo, Ohio. Sim passed January 7, 1978 and Nancy returned to Arnold, Maryland. Nancy later married Lafayette (Fay) Brown in 1983 and moved back to Walnut Creek and Pleasant Hill, CA. Upon Fay's passing in 1998, Nancy moved to Heritage Harbor in Annapolis. She then to Sunrise Senior Living in Severna Park in 2011.

Over her lifetime, Nan held many jobs. She was employed with Hutzler Bros (as a rep), Anne Arundel Community College, University of Toledo, and Bailey Banks & Biddle, where she was the top sales person for the five local stores.

Nan was an avid Bridge player, bowler and golfer. She was a 35 year member of Chartwell Country Club, Severna Park, MD and a former member of the Contra Costa Country Club, Concord, CA.
Nan was an original volunteer for, and helped open, John Muir Community Hospital, Walnut Creek, CA and spent many hours volunteering at Anne Arundel Medical Center, as well as volunteering at the Visitor's Center in Annapolis, MD.

Loving mother of Greg M. Simison (Susan) of Kirkland, WA, Judith Simison Ebersberger (Arthur) of Severna Park, MD, and David A Simison (Marlene) of Annapolis,; dear stepmother of Heather Lane (Ray) of Walnut Creek, CA, dec'd, Scott A. Brown (Rosemary) of Walnut Creek, CA, and Tracy LeBlanc (Steve) of Leesburg, VA; twenty grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Nan's Life will be held at Chartwell, One Chartwell Drive, Severna Park on Sunday, August 7th from 4 – 6 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, 90 Ritchie Highway, Pasadena, MD 21122.
