Nancy Lee Berlett lived an active vibrant life until a stroke in 2011.  She moved to an assisted living community at Brightview in Severna Park.  On September 21, 2017 she suffered a massive heart attack at the age of 85.  She was born in Baltimore on May 27, 1932 to Edith and Joseph Costello.  Her father was a Captain in the merchant marines and she and her sister were raised in Baltimore and New York City.  Her mother was a lover of life and an avid cook.  Nancy  married the late Edward G. Berlett III on November 28, 1954 and is survived by five children -- Edward Berlett IV married to Heather from Arnold MD;  Stephanie Wilding married to Duane from Crownsville MD; Timothy Berlett married to Barbara from Fayetteville PA; Thomas Berlett married to Carol from Hanover MD; and Carolyn Berlett Sylva from Severna Park.  She is survived by her sister Carolyn Cornell of Austin, TX, seventeen Grandchildren and six Great Grandchildren.

While raising her family she returned to Towson State University and received a teaching degree and ultimately her Master's degree.  She was a retired school teacher who spent her entire career in the Anne Arundel county school system and taught at Crofton Elementary and Chesapeake Middle School.

Nancy and her late husband raised their children in Baltimore and then in Bayberry on the Magothy, Arnold MD where she taught herself, all her children, and many Bayberry kids how to water ski.  She was an avid runner and ran in the New York City Marathon.  Her lifelong joy of music had her join multiple choir groups ending with the Annapolis Choral.  She provided a home that was filled with music and the spontaneous eruption of show tunes at the dinner table was not uncommon. She loved singing, opera, playing the piano, tennis, travel, yoga, reading, crossword puzzles, and Jeopardy.  She cherished her friends and kept herself busy between her book clubs, Annapolis Choral, and her walking, running and swimming groups.
